quotation markAt a time in life when I was young and newly in ministry, Bill Graybill guided me in directing a children's ministry program. He began by laying a foundation of the vision for the program and God's heart for people. Emphasizing ministry to be with meaning and purpose, he helped me think outside the box of what is normal to meet the needs of the people. –Beth Z.

quotation markFinding excited, passionate and qualified volunteers has always been a challenge. Champions for Kids helps to uncover new ideas and ways of getting others to "buy in" to the vision of the Children's ministry. –Emily G.

quotation markChampions for Kids causes me to think out of the box. I'm used to thinking that I have one or two solutions. This process has allowed me to think of more solutions to issues I deal with on a regular basis. I've had some great successes and because of the process I am looking for more successes. –Jason L.

quotation markA lot of times when you are looking for counsel you come away with a list of things to do. In contrast to that, Champions for Kids helps to wade through the fog. It seems a lot of the direction that you pursue with CFK is direction that's self-generated. In other words, you are helping me to find with answers for my unique situation rather than just giving me answers. –Jess S.

quotation markPastor Bill was willing and ready to guide, teach and help me with this daunting adventure. I took to listening, gleaning, and trusting him to help me advocate for ministry to children in my church. He taught me to clarify, focus and evaluate my goals and vision for working with and leading others to serve children. He contributed countless hours of his time, experience and wisdom in order to see me succeed. Bill made it clear that this was his goal and he was tireless in helping me with every facet of my role. –Chris W.

Have Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is coaching?

Coaching is a partnership between you and a coach that is designed to help you produce fulfilling results in your ministry. As your coach, I will help you improve your performance and create a powerful ministry. I am trained to listen and observe and customize my approach to your needs and style. I will seek to find solutions and strategies that come from you. As a coach, I believe that you are naturally creative and resourceful. It is my job to provide the support to enhance the skills, resources and creativity that you already have.

What are benefits of group coaching?

Group coaching has several benefits. Here are a few: 1) In a group there are like-minded people who share your passion and vision about children's ministry. This combination brings greater awareness and increased energy. 2) You will benefit from forming relationships that feed fresh ideas and spark enthusiasm in your ministry. 3) Group coaching makes coaching affordable for those even in small churches. Group coaching puts this powerful tool within reach of everyone.

How many are in each group?

Each group will consist of between six and eight children's ministry leaders. Research shows that this is the ideal number that creates a balance between synergy and participation.

Who will be in my group?

Your group will consist of other children's ministry leaders in similar situations that you find yourself in.

How and when do we meet?

Groups meet once or twice a month. We will use what is called a bridge line. Each person phones into a conference call. You do not need to be at your computer for these calls. Each group will also have the option of forming a support meeting that meets one time a month without the coach on the conference call line. I have found this arrangement to be very helpful in my own journey.

Are there assignments or homework?

Let me put your mind at ease. There are no assignments or homework given. You will create your own action plans that fit your style, schedule and meet your goals. You will find that coaching will give you more time rather than less time. You will become better organized, have greater clarity and focus.

What do group discussions cover?

Some groups will form around a specific topic and will have a set number of sessions and cover relevant material.

In year-long coaching groups the topics center around the needs of those in the group. There is no curriculum to complete but the Holy Spirit is free to give direction to each discussion.

How is the agenda formed?

For specific topic groups such as Volunteers: Creating an Uncommon Culture, there will be an agenda that is set. Each group will have the freedom to explore as needed to accomplish the desired goals.

For year-long coaching groups a few days before the next meeting is scheduled you will have opportunity to submit topics that you want help with. From experience it seems that each meeting has the unique ability to give you fresh insight as all ministries have common challenges. If your topic is not addressed we will deal with it in a laser coaching session or bring it to the next meeting.

What is "laser coaching?"

Laser coaching is coaching that is very focused and limited in duration, usually 10-15 minutes. You will have access to me between meetings with laser coaching calls if you need them.

What is expected of each group member?

To be a good group member you only need to be yourself, come prepared to participate, and be generous with what God has given you. If you do these three things you will make a great group member.

How will I benefit from Champions for Kids?

As a member of a Champions for Kids Coaching group you will have available other passionate leaders from different backgrounds, denominations and life experiences. The group will be able to share with you their insights and ideas. You will be the recipient of their passion and energy. You also have access to and benefit from working with a trained professional coach who will help you dig deeper, see further and dream bigger than you would have by yourself. You will also experience the safety of being able to express wild ideas, ministry frustration and far-out game concepts with others who understand completely.

What about confidentiality?

Like the saying "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas," what happens in coaching stays within the group. You are free to share with others what you bring to the group, but you are not free to share what others bring to the group. The confidentiality gives you a safe place to interact with others.

How much does it cost and how do I pay?

Specific topic groups each have a set price for the package. Click here for specific group costs. You can pay with a credit card through PayPal. This is a secure and safe method for payment. The second way you can pay is by check. Email me that you want to register and then send a check within 24 hours for the total investment to the address on the contact page.
